Adding and deleting text in PDFs
With FreePDF, the free PDF editor alternative to Adobe Acrobat, you can add and delete text in PDFs with just one click.
With the Text Plus tool, you can quickly and flexibly insert single or multi-line text boxes into your document in FreePDF.
Adding a single-line text box
Quickly create a one-line text box with automatic width adjustment:
- Click on the Text Plus tool in the Quick access toolbar.
- Click on the document. A text box with a fixed height is immediately created.
- If the text does not fit in the box, a small red overflow icon appears. Then enlarge the text box using the four sliders at the edges.
Adding a multi-line text box
You can also insert larger passages of text:
- Select the Text Plus tool in the Quick access toolbar.
- Use the mouse to draw a new text box of the desired size.
- Specify font and font size via the Home | Character tab.
- The textbox automatically expands downward when the text becomes longer – or remains fixed when you adjust the size using the slider.
- If the red overflow icon is displayed, enlarge the box using the sliders at the edges.
Deleting text
You can also remove entire text boxes from a PDF file:
- Select the Object tool in the Quick access toolbar.
- Click on the text box that you want to remove and press the Del key.
Editing text
You can edit the text you added yourself with the Text Plus tool at any time. To do so, enable the Text Plus tool, click in the text box and edit the text via the usual commands.
Please note that you cannot edit text other than the text you added yourself with FreePDF. This function is reserved for the commercial version FlexiPDF.
